Na época de acasalamento destes cervídeos é possível observar, com alguma facilidade.
Nesta época, são mais fáceis de detetar pois encontram-se na altura do acasalamento (época da brama). São os machos que se destacam pelos bramidos fortes que vocalizam para atrair fêmeas e afastar outros machos competidores.
