The temple is located in the central square of Évora, in what would have been the highest elevation of the city's acropolis. It is surrounded by religious buildings associated with the Inquisition in Portugal, including: the Sé Cathedral.
The temple was originally constructed in the 1st century, but it was later converted into a temple dedicated to the Roman cult that worshipped the Emperor Augustus.

O templo romano de Évora, conhecido como Templo de Diana, está localizado na cidade de Évora e faz parte do centro histórico da cidade, o qual foi classificado como Património Mundial pela UNESCO. É um dos mais famosos marcos da cidade, e um símbolo da presença romana em território português.
